As of May 15, 2019, those transporting goods between Australia and Singapore can now expect a rise in both security and quality of service.
A Mutual Recognition Arrangement has been signed between the two nations and companies certified by their respective customs departments can look forward to smoother and faster clearance processes.
In fact, Singapore Customs has already released a statement instructing how companies based on the island can obtain the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) code from certified Australian companies for use in their TradeNet declarations. They have also scheduled downtime periods for TradeNet so that they can perform system maintenance in preparation for the new processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for all logistics organizations who have strived to meet the requirements of Singapore’s Secure Trade Partnership (STP) programme as well as the Australian Trusted Trader (ATT) programme. Now is the time to really consider the value of these certified companies in your supply chain network!
